Role of Media in Brainwashing Masses

“WHOEVER CONTROLS THE MEDIA CONTROLS THE MIND”.

Media sometimes has positive impacts and on the other side, it has so many negative impacts on people. Nowadays media is highly brainwashing the masses. Is media now having so much power that it can manipulate the thoughts of people?

Social media exploits our deeply ingrained learning mechanism and allows us to be brainwashed. It is negatively impacting people's minds and their thoughts, and views about the things being manipulated.

Media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok YouTube, and many other sites have a lot of followers. People of all ages kids, adults, and elders are using these sites. As we all know that these sites consume a large portion of our time for both types of users the one that only views the content and the second that creates the content. And people of a young age are highly addicted to these sites that they can spend their whole day wasting their time on these sites or apps.

There is a great need for everyone to be on social sites if they don’t want to be bullied, everyone must have social accounts latest mobile phones. If any individual is not aware of all these social sites and is not having any accounts he will be called backward and will be bullied by people of his age.

People are so addicted to social media; we can see people are becoming criminals, and suicidal because they are bullied by fellow users. Cyberbullying crimes are so common nowadays because of the media, and criminals are not afraid of doing these activities.

There are so many negative impacts of media some common are:

• Depression

• Anxiety

• Cyber Bullying

• Sleep deprivations

• Internet addiction

• Self-harm

• Anger issues

• Lack of interest in books

A lot of people are involved in cyber-crimes. They are harassing people just over the small fights ruining someone’s life. Some are putting their lives in danger by trusting a stranger by giving them all their personal information.

Social media is a drug on which most people rely. It tends to present us a false sense of reality. It creates an unrealistic version of what life really is, most of the people on the social platforms whether they are Influencers, celebrities, or any other person; are not perfect, their lives are not as perfect as shown on their social accounts. It has brainwashed people who follow them and has increased their expectations from the person they meet in real life.

Many of the people on media are creating negative content which is brainwashing their audience and influencing them to do what is wrong. People can go to any extent to get fame.

The media controls the minds of the masses. Social media make us believe that is not true and make us deny the truth. There is a quote by Malcolm x:

“The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent and that’s power. Because they control minds of masses”.
